Introduction

The course in Metabolism of biomolecules is offered to all students of M.Sc. Biotechnology, Biochemistry and Microbiology.

A clear understanding of the different metabolic pathways is a pre-requisite to understanding the life processes.  This course will provide students a detailed understanding of the principles of the various metabolic processes and their control and enable them to be oriented with the biochemical importance of macro and micronutrients as well as the structure and functions of enzymes.

On completion of this course, students will have an understanding of the metabolic pathways - the energy-yielding and energy requiring reactions in life; understand  the diversity of metabolic regulation, and how this is specifically achieved in different cells.
